tempus fugit
yes
Born in the night, she would run like a leopard that freaks
At the sight of a mind close beside herself.
And the nearer I came, how the country would change,
She was using the landscape to hide herself.
More in the mind than the body this feeling a sense
At the end of a circular line that is drawn at an angle,
I see when I'm with you, to navigate waters
And finally answer to yes.
If you were there, you would want to be near me.
Innocence, you could hold the materials.
And though nothing would really be living,
It would shock your fall into landing light.
In the North sky, time flies fast to the morning.
The cold of the dawn, it meant nothing to us.
You were keeping your best situation, an answer to yes.
It's so good to be near you.
And the feeling you give me
Makes me want to be with you
From the moment you tell me yes.
If you could see all the roads I have travelled towards
Some unusable last equilibrium.
Run like an athlete and die like a dead beaten speed freak,
An answer to all of the answers to yes.
If I wait for an answer,
Will the silence be broken?
Do we wait for an answer?
Do we leave it unspoken?

i have trouble with this album being that it's with that art of noise guy instead of jon anderson. i prefer jon so much i can even stand the much-reviled 'tormato', but this album truly caused this diehard yes fan some major pain. did chris sing on this one? i forget. if so i suppose it makes it at least bearable. oh, and the lyrics are okay.
and i dig allen white as much as the next guy..."going for the one" and all that...but to be a *total* yes album i need bill bruford. that's just the kinda guy i am. [you have to forgive me -- i am far more of a 70's yes fan than what came after. it is because i am old...so...so old.....]
it's a good thing for you we're not arguing about something REALLY important, like steve marriott vs. rod stewart......................................
i could not complain about this if i tried.
if you could see all the roads i have travelled towards some unusable last equilibrium. . .

ok i'm listening to this right now & all i can say is, it fucking rocks. it is a great song these are great lyrics whoever's singing it is doing a really wonderful job of it. it's clear & bright & dark & hard & evocative in the extreme.
i could not complain about this if i tried.

People like to complain and find fault more often that look at the positive. I totally agree with Lizard. This song is one of yes' best, regardless of who sings. It has one of the best bass lines of any yes song, right up there with Roundabout. This song has so much emotion, quality changes, great background vocals, all in all a great song. Proud to say I saw them perform this once back in the 80's during the Drama tour. . . wish I wasn't a young punk all burned out on too much gonge. . . but what little I remember, great show!! welcome to division cheat. if i use percentages to make
the width flexible, it causes sidescrolling in various flavors of mac browser, & opera.
if i simply have one line of text going the whole way across, it expands
without complaint. no, it's not compliant. and bite me.
